First 4x12 Tarlos Sneak Peek
TK is having a conversation about them being fathers, Carlos is having a conversation about them being husbands. They’re not really disagreeing, they’re just focusing on different things, they’re envisioning different roles for themselves.
TK enters the conversation with a lot of drama (”gaping chasm”), Carlos responds with flippant sarcasm. Neither tone is helpful or really appropriate, especially when they’re not having the same conversation.
TK wants to be a father and doesn’t understand why Carlos wouldn’t when Carlos has so many great dad-like qualities. He’s a natural caregiver and TK has always seen Carlos as a future father, so this is throwing him. And then his insecurities cut in and he assumes it’s because Carlos doesn’t think he’d be a good dad.
Carlos just wants them to be able to enjoy their marriage, figure out who they are as a married couple, without all the trauma that they’ve faced. He’s been a husband before but not the husband he always wanted to be. He wants to be that, he wants to live in that role for now. He wants to have experiences with TK that aren’t terrible and traumatic, but also don’t include kids, who let’s be real, significantly alter experiences when they’re involved.
Neither of them are really listening to each other, mostly because, again, they aren’t having the same conversation. TK brings up Carlos’s love for children, Carlos doesn’t disagree that he loves children, just other people’s children. TK then names other people’s children, as evidence, but that doesn’t prove his point... it actually proves Carlos’s. And he responds as such.
Carlos wants to go on adventures and even to NYC, but he wants to go with TK as TK’s husband, something for them to do together as just themselves. TK argues that children can go to NYC too, but that’s not the point Carlos is making.
Carlos mentions the pet in the context of responsibility and experience. TK mentions Lou, which was a disaster situation that didn’t teach them responsibility or experience. Lou doesn’t support TK’s argument, it futher supports Carlos’s statement.
TK thinks Carlos doesn’t believe he can be a father and Carlos immediately says that he did not say that. And he’s right, he never said or implied that. That’s not the conversation Carlos was having. That was never a thought that Carlos had.
Throughout the scene, Carlos ignores how TK is feeling and remains flippant and dismissive. Likewise, TK ignores what Carlos is saying and remains dramatic and takes it all a little personally. Neither are their best selves, but I just think they’re confused and not having the conversation they need to be having. But it’s early in the episode, so I think they’ll get there by the end.
Personally, I don’t like that this conversation is only happening now, but I’m intrigued to see what we learn about them while they go through these important moments. Especially if we’ll see them communicating better than they have in the past.
Overall, I love that Carlos just wants to be someone’s husband before he takes on another role like parenthood. I think that really speaks to his love for TK and the life they can have together. It’s his dream. I love that TK wants to be a father so bad and sees Carlos as a perfect partner for that role. I love that for both of them, and I think they’re on the same page about their futures, they just have to figure out the timing.

hi michelle! happy nice ask week! is there a storyline from the show you thought you wouldn't like (based on the promo, a sneak peek, etc) that you ended up loving? and if not, have your feelings drastically changed on any storylines?
Hi Neha, happy nice ask week to you too <333 Well I only ever started watching live in season 4, so yeah not gonna lie, was pretty damn angry about the Iris storyline. Mostly because it makes NO sense. It was so ridiculous to pretend they had planned this when no they didn't. As a writer I felt like...why the fuck do I ever care about consistency?? Lol this show gives no fuck. I have come around to the storyline in itself though, as something they didn't plan and isn't totally weird if that had been true S1. It means coming to terms with Carlos as someone who hides things, which...tracks. But also with him not exactly having been a good friend to Iris. I actually agree with Carlos saying he is a shitty friend because yes he was. BUT and here is the but that I think a lot of people hating the storylines don't do; I think it's okay. I think humans are complex. I can be a good friend to some friends and not reach out enough to others for my own reasons. Carlos pushes away trauma as far as he can. It makes sense he didn't reach out to Iris because that is related to his coming out and to a time of her missing that he had to cope with and then swallowed because that's all he knows how to do. I can understand people not liking Iris. I actually really like her for much the same reasons as I stated above. Give me characters with both good and bad qualities. So Love might be too tall an order for that storyline, but I do really like how they spun it out and have been consistent with Carlos' character (just not the time and storyline of 911 LS - booooo on that one lol)

SaL anon here friend wishing us luck on tonight's LS episode *sigh*. As much as I'm happy that they are taking a break from the usual Owen nonsense to give him some much needed family time I'm so tired of how many storylines we've already gone through with him THIS season when we haven't even gotten a single thing for Nancy and barely anything for Mateo and Paul. The balancing of an ensemble cast remains a struggle for yet another season. On the flip side I'm always down for more Grace, though not as much for the 4th criminal investigation storyline when we've had a total of 2 or 3 fire emergencies.
Otherwise I am happy we got a fun firefam episode for 911 before what looks like a messy outside character shitshow for the final episodes. Glad they remembered to give us some much needed Hen and Chim time before the end, its the friendship that forms the basis of everything and deserves that respect.
Cheers friend, and let's start to prepare for a rough final 2 weeks 🍸🍸🍸!!
I am out of data so I didn't watch any of the LS sneak peeks or check out the tag but I heard some grumblings of Owen drama and immediately tuned it out. I do not see, I do not perceive, I'm just gonna focus on Grace. But also, are we for real doing yet ANOTHER investigation storyline?! Why TF did they not just make LS a police-focused show instead since they don't seem to care about rescues? I'm just happy it seems to be focused on someone besides Owen so yay for that but still 🙄🙄🙄
OG was so good on the firefam front (the emergencies were....certainly things that happened) so that was nice before we go into....whatever TF they are doing with the 700 Buck plotlines and guest characters going into the finale. Cheers friend, I think we are gonna NEED it these next couple weeks. On the bright side, the show going on hiatus means I might get some writing done soooo yay for me!

Fox’s upfronts are on may 15th, they’ve always announced 911/911 LS during that event, ronen’s tweet sounds scary but he’s also a very dramatic guy, it wouldn’t be the first time he tweeted something like that.
Listen Nonny, I so hope you, positive people are the ones who are right! And I truly want to laugh at my tags a month from now 😂😂 (Also I know that both TVInsider and Deadline reported this year that s5 is for sure a go but the new trend is apparently shocking cancellations and unmade renewals??) But like... this tweet was so random? And I mean it’s possibly just all nerves and whatnots and you know, the cycle that feeds itself with the more tags/comments you read but him putting “last 4 years” like that?? When it’s not even like sneak peek or description-dropping day? That would usually cause the fandom to go mad??? Anyway, let’s hope it’s really just him being all weepy or bc he saw 4x15-4x18 come together and it’s then a real trip and felt the need to tweet in advance and not a goodbye 🤞🤞🤞🤞

That sneak peek clip took over my thoughts. I have to focus and get stuff done before the actual full episode airs lol. So I’m throwing my thoughts down below:
Carlos and TK are moving in together. THEY ARE MOVING IN TOGETHER AND IT'S NOT HAPPENING OFF SCREEN!! *shouts with joy*
Of course Carlos is still calling Owen "Captain Strand." I love one respectful boyfriend.
Of course Owen named his blender. LOL. I wonder how many blender names were pitched in the writer's room before they settled on Marlon Blendo. 😂😂
Hi Season 1 Owen, I've missed you! Please stay. Seriously though, my favorite Owen is this one. The one who is a good dad to TK, supportive of his relationship, and attentive enough to stop by with a house warming gift. I love the teasing and their hug so much. 🥺💜
TK’S t-shirt, that COLOR. CARLOS REYES IN A MUSCLE TANK. I've said this before and I will never tire of saying it, thank you to the 911 LS wardrobe department for their service. They do EXCELLENT work. 👏🏽
Speaking of the LS wardrobe department,  I've noticed recently that TK and Carlos color coordinate in subtle ways when in their civilian clothes. In this scene, TK's t-shirt complements Carlos' joggers. I want to think this is intentional and a nod to their togetherness. If so, again thank you to the wardrobe department.  (Yes I notice these things and this is how my brain works LOL).
The overall fluff, joy, and domesticity in this scene is so lovely. My heart is so full. Let me go be productive so I can come back and spend the rest of my evening shouting about 2x10. 😆

no because if we get some kind of paralleling conversation of their resolving conversation in 2x04 where they grow through what they go through together even more — where TK tells him that he's fully on board.. and as long as carlos needs.. and reassures him that on a positive note, nothing ever stays the same.. that he's so valid for 'i just want us to have a chance to be us' because TK understands that Carlos has felt unsafe for so much of his life, that he has a very different experience from him as a queer man who has struggled so much navigating a heteronormative functioning world and a family that made it even harder to simply be himself. that it hasn't been so long either since he's found TK, whose love is so right and unconditional and keeps on reaching new phases and so he just wants to savour the comfort of it and be in the moment before there is anyone else to care about.

i’m not confused, but angry at fox’s strategies to both market and stage their show. because this is now the second week in a row they’ve done the same thing regarding scenes with buck and eddie
first they give a small promo with some key lines from buck or eddie and they advertise the episode as if that will be the main storyline. Then the day of or day before they release a sneak peek of a scene that had been shown a bit in the promo. a sneak peek implying that there’s more to be seen of that scene or storyline.
but when the episode airs it’s very small scenes, and then they make the aforementioned teased scene the LAST part of the episode, therefore making their viewer retention go up by using the people who were watching to see that scene.
and like the scenes being short and at the end of the episode wouldn’t be a problem if they didn’t advertise it to be more
it’s not that they aren’t allowed to use these techniques to get their ratings up, but it’s annoyingly obvious which demographic they’re targeting with this tactic, and even more obvious that they know how to manipulate their footage to do it.
